things i thought were flaws…

but really… they were just me

my chin.

i used to hate it.

now i see it makes my face distinct. memorable. mine.

my body softness.

i thought it meant i wasn’t “tight enough”

but it actually shows i am alive, soft, and comfortable in my skin

my skin discoloration.

i thought it was something to hide

but my skin is working, protecting, and healing me every day

my smile.

not perfect. not straight from every angle

but it holds personality, warmth, and truth

the way i talk.

i get nervous. i go off track

but it shows i am aware, thoughtful, and trying to be understood

my neck tattoo.

i outgrew parts of it

but it reminds me i’ve always been bold enough to choose myself

my body when it sweats.

i used to feel embarrassed

but it just means my body is doing exactly what it’s supposed to do

not fitting into systems.

like standardized tests

maybe it’s not that i’m bad—

maybe i’m just built differently. creatively. intuitively.

my detachment.

i thought it made me cold

but it shows i am learning peace, boundaries, and self-protection

i thought these were flaws.

they were just parts of me

waiting to be understood.
